The Conservatives on Essex County Council have emphasised their commitment to delivering value for money for the residents of Essex by highlighting a key element of their manifesto in this weekÂ’s county elections.

The Conservatives on the county council have pledged to keep increases in council tax to below inflation for the lifetime of the next administration – a period that will cover the next four years.

Leader of the Conservative Group on Essex County Council, Lord Hanningfield said:

“We are absolutely committed to delivering value for money for the people of Essex and that is why we are promising to limit increases in council tax to below inflation for the course of the next administration.

We are able to do this because of the Conservatives’ sound financial management of the county council’s finances over the last four years and because of our future plans to save £200 million by cutting bureaucracy and streamlining processes.

When the Liberal Democrats last controlled County Hall they brought it to within an inch of bankruptcy. People, now more than ever, demand value for money and I am pleased to say that Conservatives in Essex will deliver on exactly this promise.”
